Recently I saw the movie Julie & Julia. I enjoyed it a lot. Meryl Streep deserves her 16th academy award nomination for her portrayal of Julia Child. Bon Appetite- Yes I loved seeing all the great food scenes.

But today I’m writing about a different aspect of this film. The power of blogging. Amy Adams plays Julie Powell in the film. Julie is frustrated as a cubicle bureaucratic worker dealing with the problems of 9/11 back in 2002. Her friends are all fast track executive climbing women on the go.

So Julie realizes what will make her happy is making every recipe from Julia Child’s best selling book “Mastering the Art of French Cooking”. Julie goes to work for 365 days making 524 recipes in a tiny apartment over a pizza shop in Queens, New York.

When Julie tells her husband her friends are making it big with blogging. Her husband says you can blog too. So Julie says “I can write a blog, I have thoughts”

Well as they say, the rest is history. The blog was a smashing success. So was Julie Powell’s 2005 book on that year of cooking in 2003 and blogging about it everyday. And of course it is now a major motion picture.

I hate pushy sales blogs. You know the ones where the first thing you see is a big credit card. Nothing wrong with selling from your blog. But I think it’s best to do on the sides, not in people’s faces.

So lets have some fun with blogging. Lets just be real. What an awesome chance to just express ourselves and share with others what we know and what can help them.

Leave me a comment, Let me know if you’d like to be on my blog roll. I’d appreciate being on yours too. And if your not on my video marketing newsletter yet, sign up on this blog. I’ll share with you some great tips on video marketing.

Blessings, Rob

I just finished Maria Andros coaching program titled “The Social Media Traffic Blueprint”.  So instead of using the usual words of great, awesome that don’t tell you anything real.  This is what it did for me.

It gave me knowledge I really don’t think I would find or find in one place together elsewhere.  Knowledge about ways to really enhance myself in Social Media.  Actually when I heard Maria say the blueprint is a 2 year plan to implement.  I stopped feeling guilty about not getting too much done.  You see the course was like a rich chocolate cake.  Filled with intense deep teachings and it all can’t be implemented that fast.  But it’s all very powerful.  If you’ve followed her at all you’d see she knows whats she’s doing.

The most important part for my own direction and growth was my half hour one on one time with Maria a few days ago. (this was part of the course)  She peered deep into my spirit and let me know what I could change in my mindset.  What is the most important direction to go in my business.  And what exactly I can do to make both of these happen.  Just what I needed as I was feeling lost on my own Internet Marketing direction.  Also certain thought patterns were holding me back.  Now that was an eye opening half hour.

You know my youtube channel has gone from 3 subscribers to 53 in the last 2 months just by following some simple advise by Maria.  This increase in views and a following is a great boost to me because I know I want to specialize in this niche.

So now I’m taking Harlan Kilstein’s class.  Harlan is a top copywriter that has worked for the likes of people like Frank Kern.  This class is a lot more than copywriting.  It’s a program to change your mindset and a step by step instruction to not just find a niche but build a 7 figure business.  I’m 2 weeks in and I’m real happy with it.

So my wife Laurel wanted to know why I keep going from coaching program to coaching program.  My answer is I need to learn and I feel really good about the choices of mentors I picked.  I mean Jim Cockrum, Alex Jeffreys, Maria Andros and Harlan Kilstein.  There all enormously successful and great teachers that don’t hold anything back. If I wasn’t making progress then you’d have to say it was a mistake as they all cost money.  But I am moving forward and I feel so great and empowered because I really have the knowledge and tools to soon go full time in this.  How about full time in early 2010.  Do you think I can do it?  Well I do.

My organizing my business is now done on a white board.  I needed the simplicity to organize my thoughts, planning and work.  So the white board has worked better for me than other methods I tried.

What do you think?  Where are you at on this journey?                                                                                        Rob

Lately I have been making a different kind of video besides continuing to make video infomercials.  I’m talking about making videos about myself.  You can do this also.  Video is a great way to let others know about yourself.

It’s fun, but yes can be scary.  We all want to present ourselves well.  People will respect honesty.  This kind of video will help you to become more articulate which is good for most of us.  Because of your honesty people will trust you and this will help in your business.

So think before you make one of these videos about what you want to communicate.  You will be sharing some of the real you.  You actually will be starting to develop your own brand.  Attraction Marketing includes people being attracted to what Frank Kern calls your “Core Values”.

In today’s age of Social Media people want to connect with a real person, not just a company.  So I’m going to give you the secret to making a successful video.

People watch videos to see whats in them for themselves.  Now here is the secret- are you ready?  Give away your best and most helpful information that the viewer can really use.  Put the viewer first because to them your video is really about them, not you.  This is how you will start gaining a following.

Ask them through text or verbally to rate your video, comment and subscribe to your youtube channel.

Do not talk to the masses.  Talk to the camera as if it is your best friend talking with you in your living room.

Here is my very personal video on transformation.  What did you think?  Please leave a comment by the video and right here on the blog.  Oh and if you haven’t subscribed to my video channel yet.  Please do and I will do the same as I would like to see your videos too.

Until next time,                                                                                                                                             Rob

Well it’s been 2 weeks into Maria Andros’s “Social Media Traffic Blueprint” Program.  So here’s what I’m learning and moving forward with from it.

Twitter- I learned the importance of a powerful biography to establish credibility.  To get a company logo and graphics up also.  Get followers and keep your ratios balanced.  Have at least 5-10 conversations a day.  Build relationships which lead to new customers, JV Partners and speaking engagements.

YouTube- Create a powerful biography that establishes yourself as an expert and authority.  Get a custom logo made.  Choose a catchy title and headline.  Use all the custom design channel tools.  Create a simple intro video 25-40 seconds for your videos.

How to make hypnotic videos- Go deep to find out who your customer is.  When making a video change your own space first to be in a confident state.  Speak to the camera as you are talking to only your best friend, not to the masses.    Share your story to gain trust.

Well this is just a snapshot and doesn’t do justice to all the cutting edge information I am learning and starting to implement.  It’s a great time of fun, excitement and growth while getting out there and known in web 2.0

It’s been great being part of this community and I suggest you keep track of Maria’s videos as you will learn a ton.  Also subscribe to my videos and we can keep in touch together and grow on this great journey together.  My youtube channel is:  http://www.youtube.com/user/MarketingWithRob
